Bryce Harper received his very own signature cleat from Under Armour last month with the Under Armour Harper One. As if things couldn’t get any better for the young MLB MVP, it was just announced that Harper has signed a 10-year extension with the Baltimore-based athletic brand.
ESPN’s Darren Rovell has reported that Harper’s deal with Under Armour “is believed to be the largest endorsement deal in history for a baseball player.” Under Armour announced earlier Tuesday that Harper signed a multiyear extension but said that terms, including the length of the deal and compensation, would not be disclosed.
Under Armour signed Harper in April 2011, 10 months after the Nationals made him the first overall pick in the Major League Baseball draft. Harper has now been locked up to the Under Armour roster for the foreseeable future that already includes NFL MVP Cam Newton, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, Los Angeles Dodgers Pitcher Clayton Kershaw, and of course Golden State Warriors guard and reigning NBA MVP Stephen Curry who is signed through 2024 and PGA Tour Player of the Year Jordan Spieth who is under contract through 2025.
What do you think of Under Armour signing Bryce Harper for such a long period of time? Is this a good investment?
