The 2nd edition of the biggest sneaker head
meeting in South Africa of the year was all the way up this Past weekend. The event was
hosted at the hub of cool, Carfax in JHB.
Sneaker Exchange has become very popular amongst all sneaker
lovers and it is a growing event within the culture. Sneaker Exchange is not
only about bringing people together for one sole purpose; it has positioned
itself as an unplanned forum for sole collectors. The event may be viewed as commercialized,
hyped, overdone and even somewhat pretentious by strangers to the concept, but
the debates are far from those descriptions. Fam, the oaks go IN on the Sneaker
debates. You better be clued up if you trying to be heard outchea.
Sneaker Exchange is the definition of utopia for the devoted
“sneakerhead”. It is an event where sole
lovers are able to buy, sell and trade their kicks. This year’s JHB leg saw just
over 1800 drones of sneaker heads, sellers, resellers and buyers two steppin’
into the venue to see what’s cooking.
Just when you thought you were only there to see rare
sneakers, sip on a cold brew and beef up your sneaker knowledge, and mize, The Doro Supa Mega, AKA jumps on stage and
absolutely shuts it down! WE WERE NEVER
Supa Mega was supported by the Skhanda Queen and Reason whom
also jumped on stage to make it shake. It was too LIT! Amidst all that jubilee
and anarchy, you could also find a few South African celebrities within groove
with the masses. The likes of Dj Zintle, Bonang and Lootlove were outchea being
sneaker heads too.
Sneaker Exchange was mad jiggy and too clean with the
entertainment and we definitely can’t wait to kick it with the Sneaker Exchange
fam at the next one.
It’s only fitting the Kings of Sneakerwear be in the billie.
