Although one makes lauded luxury and performance automobiles while the other produces acclaimed athletic and casual sneakers, BMW and PUMA share a history of co-created product. Now, that powerful partnership is continuing with a new take on the RS-X3 sneaker. Inspired by BMW’s track-grade M-Series line and its tri-color emblem, this collaboration between two German titans of industry offers a high-speed look with its detailed construction and speedy accents.

Formulated from crisp white mesh, this RS-X3’s upper is quickly overlaid with a profusion of leather, suede and synthetic accents. Red racing tones circle the toebox, a navy blue Formstripe offers a touch of elegance, a small slice of powder blue mesh is present on the rear and various grey pieces appear on the heel, midfoot, forefoot and eyestays. The most direct nods to BMW appear on the lateral side’s “M Motorsport” text hit, tongue’s tri-color graphic and heel’s circular jeweled BMW logo — the same graphic that appears on the grilles and trunks of every car the Bavarian automaker produces.

Lower halves are made up of a chunky white midsole, constructed of EVA foam and embellished with silver and grey pods. An outsole that mixes the same shades as the aforementioned tongue badge completes the stylings.

The BMW x PUMA RS-X3 is available now at stockists like atmos for ¥15,000 JPY (approximately $136 USD).

This isn’t the only project BMW has in the works; it recently tapped legendary artist Futura 2000 for a hand-painted take on its speedy M2.
