After rising to fame in the ‘80s, Patrick Ewing, voted one of the 50 greatest NBA players of all time, launched his own footwear company producing signature basketball shoe silhouettes. The sneakers soon became a must-have street staple in New York City, and not long after, the rest of the world followed suit. The 33 HI basketball silhouette, designed and worn by the New York Knicks player, went on to be featured on album covers and in several music videos – giving this shoe its relevance in pop-culture. In the ‘90s, the last Ewing Athletics basketball shoes were produced – and what seemed like the end of an era, was reborn again 2012 when Patrick Ewing decided to re-launch Ewing Athletics due to popular demand. Five legendary silhouettes, each model produced true to form with authenticity and respect to the heritage of the line, will now be forming part of sportscene’s range of street-cred-worthy sneakers.
